Which image formats can I import and export in bulk?

Forma accepts PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, and non-animated GIF files. You can export individual or batch images to WebP (best for modern web compression), PNG (lossless with transparency), or JPG (universal compatibility with quality adjustment).

Why should I convert my JPG and PNG images to WebP?

Google WebP produces file sizes that are 25% to 35% smaller than JPEG and up to 50% smaller than PNG while maintaining comparable visual fidelity and supporting transparent backgrounds. Converting to WebP dramatically improves Google Core Web Vitals and website page speed.

How does Forma measure estimated output file size before downloading?

Unlike calculators that estimate file weights using arbitrary guesses, Forma performs real in-memory canvas blob encoding to display the exact byte size of your target export before you download it.

Convert PNG to WebP Online (Preserve Alpha Transparency)

Convert bulky PNG logos, graphics, and transparent illustrations into lightweight WebP format. Unlike JPEG, WebP preserves your transparent background while shrinking file sizes by 50% to 80%.

Why WebP Replaces PNG on the Modern Web

Direct Answer: PNG is uncompressed or losslessly compressed, which makes detailed illustrations and screenshots huge in file size. WebP supports full 8-bit alpha channel transparency while utilizing advanced compression to slash byte weights dramatically.

Crisp Transparency: Keeps smooth drop shadows and transparent logo cutouts intact.
Massive Byte Reductions: A 2 MB PNG frequently shrinks to under 300 KB in WebP.
100% Client-Side: Process company assets without uploading to a third-party server.
